Get Ready, Get Set…Grow!
–John Maxwell
John Maxwell was one of our speakers at Live2Lead Tri-Cities last week. And by the way, the event was amazing.
I loved looking around the room and watching the attendees furiously taking notes during each presentation. Seeing all those growth-minded people connecting and networking warmed my heart. The energy in the room was electric.
But back to John and the notes I took.
His presentation was titled “Get Ready, Get Set…GROW!” And he asked a question that stuck with me:
“What’s your growth plan?”
Think about that. We make plans for our businesses, our vacations, and our finances. But how many of us actually have a plan for our personal growth? Growth doesn’t just happen. We have to be intentional about it. And as we grow, we become better prepared for the goals we want to achieve and the opportunities that come our way.

John shared three game changers that help us grow intentionally:
1. Awareness — You can’t fix what you don’t know.
Self-awareness is essential to growth. We all have blind spots, even when we’re successful. I loved John’s statement: “Success hides more than it discloses.” Sometimes we need trusted people in our lives who are willing to help us see what we can’t see ourselves.
2. Intentionality — Turn good intentions into action.
Everything worthwhile is uphill! Knowing what we need to do isn’t enough. We actually have to do it. The greatest gap is often between knowing and doing. Growth happens when we turn our good intentions into consistent actions.
3. Consistency — Keep showing up.
We need to get our priorities straight and put the important things first. It’s the little things that we do consistently that make the biggest difference over time. Growth compounds!
John ended with something I loved: The beautiful surprise is that as we grow, our capacity to grow increases! Isn’t that encouraging? The more we grow, the more we’re capable of becoming.
So here’s my question for you this week: What’s your growth plan?
If you don’t have a growth plan, what’s one thing you could start doing this week to move in that direction?
